These terms are the agreement between you and Wollem. They cover what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and the rules that keep Wollem a safe and private place to talk. Please read them carefully before using the service.
By creating a Wollem account or using the service in any way, you agree to these terms of service and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use Wollem. If you are using Wollem on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms on its behalf.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Wollem, or older if a higher minimum age applies where you live (for example, 16 in parts of the EU). By using the service, you confirm that you meet the minimum age requirement and that you are legally able to enter into this agreement.
Because Wollem is built around privacy, the security of your account rests largely with you. You are responsible for keeping your account code, your password, and your recovery phrase safe and confidential.
Your recovery phrase cannot be recovered if you lose it. We deliberately do not hold a copy of it, which is part of what keeps your data private from us. This also means that if you lose your recovery phrase, we cannot restore access to your account or your data on your behalf. Please store it somewhere safe and offline.
For your protection, an account supports a single active session at a time. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, and you agree to notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
Wollem exists to let people communicate privately and safely. To keep it that way, you agree not to use the service to:
You own the content you create and send through Wollem. We do not claim ownership of your messages, files, or other content. You are solely responsible for the content you share and for ensuring you have the right to share it.
Because private and group chats are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot see their contents and we do not monitor them. This means content moderation in those spaces depends on the people in the conversation — using the reporting and blocking tools available to you — rather than on us reviewing what you say.
Wollem may let you join or run servers and communities. If you operate a community, you are responsible for setting reasonable rules and for moderating it in line with these terms and applicable law. If you participate in a community, you agree to follow its rules.
We provide tools to help keep communities healthy, including the ability to report abuse and to block other users. We may act on reports we receive, including by removing content or accounts that violate these terms, where we are technically able to do so.
Wollem is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We work to keep the service running reliably, but we do not guarantee any particular level of uptime, and the service may be unavailable from time to time due to maintenance, technical issues, or factors outside our control.
We may add, change, or remove features as the product evolves. We will try to avoid disruptive changes where we reasonably can, but we cannot promise that any specific feature will always be available.
The Wollem name, logo, app, and the design and content of our software and website are owned by Wollem or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks or branding without our prior written permission. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wollem is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wollem and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of — or inability to use — the service. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.
You may stop using Wollem and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the service if you violate these terms, if required by law, or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the service or other users. Where appropriate and practical, we will try to give you notice. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — such as those on intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Wollem is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the service will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. The specific governing jurisdiction should be confirmed by legal counsel before publication.
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of Wollem after an update means you accept the revised terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you should stop using the service and delete your account.
If you have questions about these terms, contact us at legal@wollem.org.
